The Calgary Lacrosse community recently celebrated the announcement that the Calgary City Council has set aside a 10-acre parcel of land so we can build Calgary’s first Lacrosse facility. Through our not-for-profit entity, the Calgary Winter Lacrosse League, the development plans call for 2 indoor dry pads, as well as an additional outdoor sports field.
Long has the development of players and coaches resided in Canada’s population centres of Ontario and British Columbia. Alberta has recently risen to become the developmental hotbed for Lacrosse players, supplying talented players and coaches to Canada’s national and international teams, as well as players to American Universities and Colleges through NCAA scholarship programs. This facility will now offer the lacrosse community a chance to raise the level of success of its participants.
These benefits have the potential of being extended to our youth’s greater appreciation of sports ethics, personal growth and development. Further, year-round training will offer greater potential for opportunities of excelling in sports to a possible professional level.
